Last weekend, Grand Slam VDL and VDL Mattias, ridden by Jur Vrieling, competed at the Global Champions Tour in Vienna. Both stallions delivered strong performances at the beautiful show at Schloss Schönbrunn. Several offspring of VDL stallions also showed excellent form.

On Friday, Jur Vrieling competed with Grand Slam VDL and VDL Mattias for the Scandinavian Vikings in the Global Champions League.

VDL Mattias made his debut at 1.60m level. In his very first 1.60m class, he jumped a very good round and recorded only two time penalties. Grand Slam VDL also produced an excellent round and remained clear. With the strong performances of both stallions, Jur Vrieling made an important contribution to the victory of the Scandinavian Vikings in the Global Champions League of Vienna.

The homebred Kelton (Bubalu VDL x Corland) also showed himself very well in this class. Under Annelies Vorsselmans, he jumped a fantastic clear round.

On Sunday, Grand Slam VDL achieved a strong second place in the 1.45m Schloss Schönbrunn Prix.

In the 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Vienna Schönbrunn, Hipster SV (Corporal VDL) finished in an impressive third place. Ridden by Olivier Philippaerts, Hipster SV also remained clear in the jump-off and finished in 44.86 seconds. The gelding, bred by Cecilia and Jörgen Ohlsson, earned €46,290 with this result.

Offspring of VDL stallions were also successful in the U25 Grand Prix. Idiaal Special H.J. (Falaise de Muze) won the 1.45m CSIU25 Grand Prix under Austrian rider Tobias Pfingstl. In the jump-off, the combination recorded four penalties and the fastest time of 39.93 seconds. Idiaal Special H.J. was bred by Herman Jacobs from Weert.

Light-Kohinoor (Cohinoor VDL) finished in a strong sixth place in the same class with Sally Carina Zwiener. Light-Kohinoor was bred by H.B. Dirksen and M.A. Hijlkema from Tirns.
