The VDL stallions and their offspring put in an excellent performance last weekend at CSI Ommen, with clear rounds, podium places and several victories.
The highlight was the performance of Comthago under Hessel Hoekstra, who recorded three clear rounds, including an impressive clear round in the CSI3 Grand Prix (1.55 m). Wilhelm Kochs is the breeder of this Comme il Faut son.
Stargos was also in excellent form with Hessel Hoekstra. The pair finished second in the 1.50 m class and added a third place in the CSI1 Grand Prix (1.40 m). This Stakkato Gold son was bred by Wilhelm Winkeler.
In the CSI1 Small Tour (1.40 m)*, victory went to Oilily MF, a daughter of Impressive, ridden by Berber Dijkman. The mare, bred by M. Fikkema, completed a clear round in 60.34 seconds.
The CSI1 Grand Prix (1.40 m)* brought further success for VDL progeny. Otto, a son of Baltic, won with Michael Greeve after a clear-round jump-off in 37.18 seconds. W. Harke is the breeder of the young Baltic son. Notorious, a son of Arezzo, finished fourth with Steven Veldhuis after also completing two clear rounds; he was bred by F.J.G. van Boxtel.
A Baltic VDL offspring also took a podium place in the CSI3 Big Tour (1.50 m)*. Novacific Eickenrode, bred by J. van der Waaij & A.E.A. van der Waaij, jumped to a fine second place with Hessel Hoekstra.
In addition, Landino VDL, ridden by Luke Hill, produced a neat clear round in the CSI1 Grand Prix*, whilst Sambucci de Muze, also ridden by Luke Hill, performed strongly, finishing fifth and ninth in the 1.45 m classes. Night Life VDL also put in a positive performance with a clear round at 1.45 m.
