During the CSI5*-W in Leipzig (GER), several VDL offspring impressively demonstrated why VDL blood is among the absolute best in the world. With a victory in the World Cup qualifier, several class wins and podium places, the VDL horses coloured the five-star event.
Grand Slam VDL triumphs in the World Cup qualifier
The absolute star was Grand Slam, the powerful son of the stallion Cardento. Under Jur Vrieling (NED), he jumped to a convincing victory in the 1.55m World Cup Qualifier. With a clear and lightning-fast round in 63.72 seconds, the combination left the competition far behind and earned an impressive 26,375 euros. Grand Slam Is bred by Frans Kenis from Brecht (BEL).
Victory for Dacoucha (by Douglas) in Amateur Trophy
On 17 January, VDL blood struck again: the Westphalian mare Dacoucha, a daughter of Douglas, triumphed in the 1.40m. In the saddle was Elvezia Pappone (ITA), who secured victory with a clear round in 53.25 seconds. The Douglas daughter Is bred by H. Ramsbrock.
Brantzau VDL offspring Bento 266 wins 8-year-old class
On 15 January, Bento 266, the DSP gelding by Brantzau VDL, took the win in the 1.35m class for 8-year-olds. Rider Michael Kölz (GER) guided Bento 266 to a fast clear round in 53.06 seconds. M. Kölz is the breeder of Bento 266.
Zensation 2 (by Zirocco Blue VDL) second in opening class
Later that same day, Zensation 2, a Holsteiner by Zirocco Blue, jumped to an impressive second place in the 1.45m opening class. Under Denis Lynch (IRL), the stallion remained clear in 57.50 seconds. Zensation 2 is bred by Albert Klos from Wald-Michelbach (GER). Later that weekend, the pair managed to finish in fourth place in the 1.45m class.
With this series of top results, Cardento, Douglas, Brantzau VDL and Zirocco Blue VDL once again prove that their offspring excel at the highest level. Leipzig was unmistakably coloured VDL this weekend.
