Yesterday, the exciting finals of the Van Santvoort Makelaardij Cup took place in Ermelo, the Dutch championship for young showjumpers. It turned out to be a highly successful day for VDL Stud, with several stallions and offspring of VDL stallions placing among the best.
In the 7-year-old division, it was once again Night Life (Erco van ’t Roosakker x Arezzo) who stood out. Ridden by Luke Hill, he jumped a brilliant round to secure the title of Reserve Champion, also winning the day competition. Night Life was the only horse to jump clear in every round, including the jump-off, and finished as the best-performing stallion of the championship. Bred by VDL Stud in Bears, Night Life was also crowned Champion of the 6-year-olds last year.

Sambucci de Muze (Hunter’s Scendro x Vigo d’Arsouilles), also ridden by Luke Hill, delivered an excellent performance as well, finishing in a strong 5th place overall. He was bred and is co-owned by Joris de Brabander (BE).
The third VDL stallion in the top 10 was New Pleasure (For Pleasure x Diamant de Semilly). Under Hessel Hoekstra, he jumped consistently well, earning a place in the top 10 with a 9th-place finish. He was bred by Stal Van de Zuidakker (BE).
There was also success in the 6-year-old final. Onno VDL (Apardi x Emilion), also ridden by Luke Hill, impressed with his power and scope, finishing 8th overall. This talented stallion was bred by VDL Stud in Bears and is out of the same dam as our promising stallion McAllister VDL.
In addition to our own stallions, offspring of VDL stallions also made their mark in the finals.
In the 5-year-old final:
Pellaminka (Comthago x Zapatero VDL), bred by S.J. de Groot (Hinnaard) and ridden by Linde Bulthuis, achieved a very nice 6th place.
Picobella (Comthago x Alicante), bred by Menko and Elsa Jongeling (Aduard) and ridden by Rose-Anne Woering, followed close behind in 8th place.
Pharell GPH (Hardrock Z x Baloubet du Rouet), bred by A.M. Angenent-de Bruijn (Woubrugge) and ridden by Kristian Houwen, finished 14th.
