The VDL stallions and their offspring have once again delivered outstanding performances at CSI De Wolden. The star of the show was Landino, who, under British rider Luke Hill, managed to secure a place on the podium no fewer than three times.
The successful weekend began with an eighth place in the 1.35m class of the CSI2*. Landino then finished third in a 1.35m CSI2* class thanks to a fast, clear round. On the final day, the son of Stakkato Gold rounded off his competition with an impressive fourth place in yet another 1.35m CSI2* class. He was bred by VDL Stud.
The VDL bloodline was also strongly represented in other classes. In Saturday’s 1.40m class, victory went to Karezzo Solier B, a son of Arezzo, who, ridden by Angelique Hoorn, produced the fastest clear round. H. Brals bred the Arezzo daughter.
In the 1.35m class on Saturday, it was Oilily MF, a daughter of Impressive, who convincingly claimed victory with Berber Dijkman. She was bred by Maud Flikkema.
Matrix VDL also showed himself at his best. Ridden by Alexandre Boursier, he jumped to a respectable fifth place in the 1.30m class for young horses. He was bred by Wesenbeeck & Segers. Second place in the same class went to the Grand Slam daughter No Mercy, ridden by Jorn Redeker. No Mercy (by Grand Slam) was bred by H. van Dijken.
On the opening day, Ontario ES VDL, ridden by Alexandre Boursier, also secured sixth place in the 1.35m class. On Thursday and Friday, Alexandre Boursier also achieved excellent results with Magnus von der Sohr. The pair remained clear on both days and finished in joint first place on both occasions. He was bred by Christian Schroder.
