It was an outstanding weekend for VDL offspring at the international show in Drammen, Norway. In the CSI3* Grand Prix, Harley’s offspring topped the results, whilst in the Longines EEF Nations Cup, several VDL offspring made a significant contribution to Norway’s success.
In the CSI3* Grand Prix, it was Harley who once again confirmed his exceptional breeding ability by producing both the winner and the reserve winner. An impressive result that once again underlines why Harley has been one of Europe’s most influential show jumping sires for many years. Here I’am Z, a Harley son bred by Ayumi Kotani, won the Grand Prix with Martin Dinesen Neergaard. Second place went to the Harley son Fuzhou, ridden by Annina Nordstrom. GPH Stud is the breeder of Fuzhou, out of the Prestatie mare Werdita (by Chin Chin).
VDL horses also made a strong showing in the Longines EEF Series Nations Cup. Riding for host nation Norway, Equine America Harwich VDL, a son of Arezzo, completed two clear rounds under Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen. The Arezzo offspring, bred by VDL Stud, thus made a significant contribution to the team result. In addition, Island V G, a son of Zirocco Blue, was also part of the Norwegian Nations Cup team. Ridden by veteran rider Geir Gulliksen, this Zirocco Blue offspring – bred by J. van Gestel – also demonstrated that he possesses the qualities required for the highest level of international team competition. These results played a key part in securing victory for Norway.
There was also VDL success in the young horse classes. In the class for five-year-olds, victory went to Rochelle Air WZ, a son of Dallas. Ridden by the Norwegian rider Celine Eknes Hegna, she remained clear and convincingly won the class. The Dallas son was bred by K. Melby.
In addition, Macron van de Valckenborg, a son of Glenfiddich, jumped to a fine second place in the Gjelsten Championat. Under the saddle of Wesley de Boer, the pair remained double clear, thereby once again confirming Glenfiddich’s rise in the breeding world. S. Wolters is the breeder of the Glenfiddich offspring.
