WELLINGTON - Gisborne VDL, the VDL Stud-bred son of Zirocco VDL, was fourth in the CSI3* 1.55m Grand Prix in Wellington (USA). Under Daniel Coyle (IRE), Gisborne VDL jumped two fantastic clear rounds.
Jakima-VL (Zapatero VDL x Baloubet du Rouet) and Francisco Goyoaga Mollet (ESP) won the 1.40m. Breeder of Jakima-VL is B. van Leur (NED).
Two horses sold during VDL Stud's WEF Sport Horse Auction were also successful in Wellington:
VDL Mr Cornet (Cornet Obolensky), sold in the WEF Sport Horse Auction last year, won a young horse class over 1.20m under Micheal Burnett (USA) and finished fourth once. S.J. Moses (NED) bred VDL Mr Cornet.
Lovely Boy P (Campbell VDL x Arezzo VDL), who was champion of the five-year-olds in the USA in 2021 - two weeks after being sold in the auction - won a young horse class for seven-year-olds over 1.30m.
Ariel Grange, the current owner of the talented horse, has Lovely Boy P ridden by Irish rider Daniel Coyle. P. Pelleboer (NED) bred Loveley Boy P.
Ilex (Baltic VDL x Chin Chin, breeder G. Maris (NED)) and Fabio Leivas da Costa came fifth in the 1.45m, on the heels of H&M Kirlo van den Bosrand (Cardento x Utrillo van de Heffinck, breeder Luc Huyghe (BEL)) and Susan Horn (CAN) ; this combination came sixth.
Kariludine S (Dallas VDL x Mermus R) and Wesley Newlands (CAN) finished in a fine second place in the Medium Junior / Amateur Jumper class over 1.30m. H. van der Scheer bred Kariludine S.
