During the international show in Tubbergen, several VDL stallions once again demonstrated their quality with strong placings in various classes, including the Grand Prix competitions and finals.
In the demanding CSI2* Big Tour LR qualifier over 1.45m, VDL stallions were among the frontrunners. Mindset and Hessel Hoekstra finished in an excellent second place after a clear-round jump-off. The Aganix du Seigneur son, bred by E. Schep, produced a convincing clear-round jump-off in a time of 34.98 seconds. In addition, Night Life, ridden by Britain’s Luke Hill, secured eighth place. Night Life was bred by VDL Stud.
In the CSI2* Medium Tour Final (1.40m) on Saturday, Megan Laseur rode to a fine second place with I Am (by Etoulon). Bred by E.A. van Manen from Bennekom, the pair remained clear-round twice and clocked a fast time of 37.49 seconds in the jump-off. Stargos, ridden by Hessel Hoekstra, also impressed with a fourth-place finish. The Stakkato Gold son was bred by W. Winkler.
A day earlier, Jessie Wiefferink and New Pleasure won the CSI1* Big Tour qualifier for the Grand Prix. The pair remained clear and were by a comfortable margin the fastest in the 1.30m course. Stal van de Zuidakker is the breeder of the For Pleasure son, who did not knock a single fence all weekend.
Four VDL offspring among the prize-winners in the Grand Prix events
In the CSI1* Grand Prix (1.35m), Nalivia R-E (by Insider), ridden by Mart IJland, finished fourth. The Insider daughter was bred by J. Rendering. Close behind came New Champion EVO (by Etoulon), bred by Mr van Omme, with Sem Huizenaar in fifth place. New Pleasure also managed to secure a place in the prize-winners’ circle once again with a twelfth-place finish.
The CSI2* Grand Prix over 1.45m also yielded fine results for the VDL offspring. Legend D (by Etoulon) jumped to a strong fourth place under Lennard de Boer after two clear rounds. H. van Dartel is the breeder of the Etoulon son. Novacific Eickenrode (by Baltic) and Hessel Hoekstra finished eighth. Earlier in the week, the Baltic daughter, bred by J. & A. van der Waaij, had already secured third place in the CSI2* Small Tour (1.35m).
With multiple podium finishes, Grand Prix placings and strong performances at international level, the VDL stallions once again underline their value as a source of modern sport horses for the highest level of competition.
