VDL Stud, in cooperation with Equilife Equine Doctors, also offers a wide range of treatments by embryo transfer at our specialised reproduction centre. It is also possible to rent a surrogate mare.

Embryo transfer and ICSI:

• When placing the first order, indicate whether the semen ordered will be used for embryo flushing or for ICSI. If no indication is made, VDL Stud may charge a fine in addition to the stud fee.

For embryo transfer:

• Stud fees will be charged per successful embryo, this also applies to frozen embryos and if several embryos are flushed from one insemination.
• If no embryo(s) is/are successful, sperm can be ordered again for this mare.
• Mare owner has to provide VDL Stud before 1 October with an overview, drawn up and signed by the veterinarian or the ET centre, of the number of flushes and the number of successful embryos per mare. VDL Stud may charge a fine in addition to the stud fee in case of no statement.
• If the transplantation of the embryo has not been successful, this overview will count as a gust declaration (if mentioned).
• VDL Stud will charge a fine of €15,000,- for each undeclared embryo in addition to the stud fee.

For ICSI:

• The stud fee must be paid prior to the ICSI session, per mare and per session

Conditions for embryo transplantation: Stud fees are charged per successful embryo, this also applies to frozen embryos and if several embryos are flushed from one insemination. The mare owner must provide VDL Stud before October 1st with an overview prepared and signed by the veterinarian or the ET center of the number of washes and the number of successful embryos per mare. If the transplantation of the embryo has not been successful, this overview serves as a gust statement (if stated). With this statement you can continue breeding for 50% of the studfee of the following year.
